Fuck you Reebok.
So the above is a current ad for Reebok’s Groupon and personally, I find this very offensive. As a trombone player I can tell you it takes a shit ton of talent to play this instrument. And as a musician I am once again disgusted by how our society thinks it’s acceptable to make the arts the brunt of a joke.
Yes, I get that this is supposed to be a joke, but it is in such bad taste. It’s these sort of “jokes” that can lead to kids thinking it’s ok to bully one another because they’re not part of the so called “popular” or “cool” group. And how dare they belittle the skills it takes to be a part of an extraordinary artistic field that requires a tremendous amount of talent, rhythm and time to produce the masterpieces seen out on the field, just to sell their product! Clearly they have never participated in or have any knowledge whatsoever of what it takes to be part of a marching band.
Why do people feel the need to put others down like this? All you’re doing is pissing off the public and making yourself look like an asshole. Not to mention alienating once-potential buyers of your product, which is the last thing you want to do as a consumer driven company fighting the effects of the current recession.
So excuse me for “tooting my own horn,” but fuck you very much you immature sons of bitches.
